History of DongShan Match Co.

Canton DongShan Match Co. was one of the longest and biggest match fatorys in the history of Canton match industry.
In winter 1919 , Prof. Luo Jieruo, Prof. Chen Dachu and Li Yaofeng established DongShan Match Factory in Guangzhou City, Canton Province. The beginning captial was 30,000 Yuan.
When the factory started to make match,they used local materials and self-made equipments.But the quality of matchs were low and unsalable. 1 year later, they began to make matches using materails and equipment imported from Japan.The quality of matchs were improved and salable.
In the period of Guangdong ocuppied by Japanese(1939~1945),the factory stopped production.
In 1946, the factory resumed production.
In 1953, the factory's ownership changed to goverment private joint owner.
In 1964, the factory joined in Guangzhou Qiaoming(Howmin) Match factory.
